Boxer or German Boxer is a breed of stocky, compact and powerful dog from Germany. Boxer is a medium to large sized, short haired breed with broad and short skulls. With their square muzzle, strong jaws and powerful bite, Boxers are suitable for holding on to the prey for long time. Boxer was developed by cross breeding English Bulldog and Bullenbeiser (mastiff breed and now extinct) and were first exhibited in St. Bernard, Munich in 1895.
The head, the most distinctive feature, of Boxer is proportionate to the body, the nose is large with open nostrils, eyes are dark brown and ears are high-set. Their neck is round, strong and muscular and front legs are straight and parallel with well-muscled back legs. They have a smooth and close fitting coat that comes in various colors including fawn, brindle, tan, mahogany, and black with white markings. An average adult male Boxer weighs25-30 kg and stands tall between 22-25 inches. Boxer is a happy, playful, intelligent and energetic dog.
