Pomeranian or Pom or Pom Pom is a Spitz breed of dog that has originated in Germany and North Western Poland. They are named after the region Pomerania in Central Europe, which is today part of East Germany and Northern Poland. Owing to very small size, Pomeranian is classified as a Toy Dog. However, they have descended from large breed of German Spitz dogs. They have been associated with many royal families during 17th and 18th centuries including Queen Victoria.

Pomeranian is a sturdy and healthy dog with wedge shaped head, short and straight muzzle, dark and medium sized almond shaped eyes, and small and erect high-set ears. Feathery tail lies straight and flat over the back. The coat is thick and double with long, straight and harsh outercoat and short, thick and soft undercoat. The coat comes in varieties of colors and patterns including red, orange, white, cream, black, brown, blue, black and tan, orange sable and wolf sable. They are intelligent, lively and proud dogs and possess an overall docile and affectionate temperament.
